Shingles Peeler

Shingles Peeler
A revolution in the roofing industry

Tearing off the old shingles from a roof is perhaps one of the worst parts of a re-roofing project. As a roofer, inventor Stéphane Gendron knows this first hand, which is why he formed his company – MatriX Evolutions – and designed the revolutionary Shingles Peeler.
“Our goal was to create a device that allowed roofers to tear-off old shingles in a more pleasant and easier fashion,” Gendron said. “We are proud to say that after 10 years of research and development, we succeeded.”
The new Shingles Peeler is unique to the market. The device removes old asphalt shingles, nails or cramps from the roof in a single, practically effortless pass.
The Shingles Peeler is a fork assembly which is pulled up the roof by an integrated winch system. As it ‘climbs’, the device cuts shingles in strips of 12-inches-wide and lifts the nails/cramps at the same time.
The Shingles Peeler works in three easy steps. The first step is to remove the caps and three rows of shingles on the entire gable length.
The second step consists of installing the anchorings (supplied with the device) on the gable of the roof. Users can install an anchoring in every two or three rafters.
The third step is to attach the device to the anchoring, go down to the edge of the roof and position the forks under the second row of shingles. By pressing on the gas throttle, the device will go up and tear off the shingles.
“The Shingles Peeler can remove one bundle of shingles and more in a minute, complete with nails,” Gendron said. “It is effective on the plywood, the board and the presswood.”
Additionally, there is no need to bend over or struggle with a shovel. Users merely control the angle of the device’s teeth to keep them parallel to the surface of the roof. The Shingles Peeler will do the rest.
Equipped with a gas engine, the Shingles Peeler is a completely autonomous device. There are no electric cords or air hoses required.
In addition to the Shingles Peeler, Gendron is working on a variety of roofing tools to make a roofer’s job easier.
One of these products is a motorized nail removal device which will be available soon.
“Roofers know that there are a lot of nails left on the surface when you tear off with a shovel,” Gendron said. “This device will help roofers to pull out nails just by going over them with the machine. Additionally, it not only removes the nails, it collects them in a little bucket situated behind the device.”
The nail removal device can also tear off those little pieces of shingles struck underneath the nail’s head.
