EcoStar® Roofing Tiles Featured On Montana Zero Energy House
EcoStar recycled, synthetic Majestic Slate™ roofing tiles were donated by a local EcoStar distributor to kick-off phase one of the Montana Zero Energy House Project that is a part of Montana State University’s (MSU) Extension Housing and Environmental Health Program.
“The Majestic Slate tiles, which are made from 80 per cent recycled materials and contain little to no inorganic filler material, were a natural choice for this project,” said Corb Strommen, the EcoStar representative who was instrumental in coordinating EcoStar’s participation in this project.
The goal of the project is to educate builders, architects, engineers, homeowners, students and the general public about resource efficiency.
“We were excited about EcoStar roofing tiles because they are made from recycled materials. We hope to show people that using building products that rely less on natural resources can cost less than traditional building approaches,” said Project Coordinator Jennifer Grossenbacher.
The EcoStar Majestic Slate tiles will be featured on the renovated, World War II-era, Family and Graduate Housing home that showcases practical and financially feasible ways for homeowners and builders to conserve energy and water while saving money and building a healthier home at the same time. In addition, the project will serve as a regional link to credible and sustainable national building information, research, technologies, resources, demonstration and technical/training support for the housing industry.
Mac Arthur Company in Billings, MT supported this project by supplying the nails and underlayments necessary for a long-lasting roof. Proper installation will be demonstrated by Timmer Roofing of Bozeman on Tues. Jun. 30, 2009 at the project location. Timmer Roofing is donating their time and labour to make this project a reality.
EcoStar’s Majestic Slate tiles are said to offer long-term durability and proven performance unrivalled by traditional roofing products. Majestic Slate and Designer Series tiles are half the weight of traditional slate, yet offer superior durability and long-term protection backed by EcoStar’s 50-year Gold Star Warranty.
With EcoStar tiles, Montana Zero Energy House Project will not only be able to conserve energy and exist self-sufficiently, but will also enjoy long-lasting, durability that will help educate the surrounding community on how to build a better environment.
