Carlisle Syntec Offers Superior Protection for SPF Insulation
 

Carlisle SynTec Inc., a manufacturer of single-ply roofing systems, offers FAST adhesive and FleeceBACK membranes, a superior roof system ideal for use over spray polyurethane foam (SPF). 

Traditionally covered with liquid applied coatings that offer only 20 to 30 mils of protection, SPF is a quality insulating system that demands the protection afforded by Carlisle’s 100- or 115-mil FleeceBACK membranes. The superior thickness and non-woven fleece standard on all FleeceBACK membranes offer increased durability and puncture resistance compared to other membranes or liquid applied coatings. 

Utilizing Carlisle’s FAST Adhesive, a two-component, polyurethane, low-rise insulating adhesive, FleeceBACK membranes are the only single-ply system that can be fully-adhered to new or existing SPF insulation. Both the FAST Adhesive and SPF insulation can be applied using the same equipment, increasing installation speed and reducing the amount of equipment needed on the roof. 

In addition to increased installation efficiency, FleeceBACK and FAST Adhesive offer several other benefits, including low noise and odor as well as superior versatility. FAST – FleeceBACK systems are also compatible with a number of rooftop surfaces other than SPF, including concrete, cellular lightweight concrete, gypsum, cementious wood fibre, wood, galvanized steel, wood fibreboard, polyiso, expanded polystyrene, extruded polystyrene, DensDeck® and OSB. For re-roofing options, FAST Adhesive can be used directly over smooth or gravel-surfaced BUR, mineral cap sheet, smooth or granule surfaced modified bitumen or coal tar pitch. 

The unique expanding characteristic of FAST Adhesive also adds R-value to the rooftop by sealing joins and it features water as its blowing agent, making FAST adhesive a VOC-free and non-flammable product. Achieving wind uplift ratings of up to 1-945 the added adhesive supplied by FAST Adhesive makes a FAST-FleeceBACK system the perfect choice for high wind areas. 

While most liquid applied coatings come with five to 10-year warranties, Carlisle offers 15 or 20-year Gold Seal Total System warranties with wind speed coverage of 80 mph for their first FAST – FleeceBACK systems. A hail resistance warranty may be included for up to one-inch hail for FleeceBACK 100 and up to two-inches for FleeceBACK 115. A limited accidental puncture warranty is also available when using FleeceBACK 115.
