W.P  Hickman Company Introduces Non-Corrosive, Stainless Fasteners Standard With All  Edge Metal Systems
W.P. Hickman Company has announced that stainless steel fasteners are being provided as a standard component with all of its perimeter edge metal systems at no additional charge to customers. Hickman has shipped fasteners with its products for years, in contrast with many edge manufacturers, and manufactures its edge products with holes pre-punched for use with the fasteners. Stainless steel fasteners are effective in resisting the corrosive nature of Alkaline Copper Quaternary (ACQ), a wood preservative increasingly being used throughout the construction industry as the result of the EPA ban on the traditional Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) preservative.
“Providing our customers with proper, non-corrosive fasteners helps reduce contractors’ liability concerns, and provides building owners and architects with an increased level of security because they know the system has been installed properly,” said W.P. Hickman COO, Jeff Imes. “Our products are ES-1 tested with the same stainless steel fasteners we ship with every order, so our customers can be certain that all Hickman roof edge systems are code compliant and have proven performance.”
By providing its customers with the correct type of fasteners on every project, Hickman has reduced the potential for selecting improper materials that might compromise the integrity of the roof system. These fasteners, complementing Hickman product lines designed with pre-punched holes which indicate proper fastener location, make edge installation easier for roofing contractors, and eliminate the time and expense of procuring fasteners from alternate sources.
